European Heart Network (EHN) is a Brussels-based alliance of foundations and associations dedicated to preventing cardiovascular diseases (CVD), supporting and representing the interests of patients and the wider public, and promoting cardiovascular health research throughout Europe to drive evidence-based policy.

EHN’s mission is to play a leading role, on behalf of patients and people in Europe, in promoting cardiovascular health and the prevention and reduction of cardiovascular disease, in particular heart disease and stroke, to ensure CVD is no longer a major cause of premature death and disability throughout Europe. Our vision is that every European has a right to a life free from avoidable cardiovascular diseases. Since its inception in 1992, EHN has continuously expanded its membership, reaching today 30 members, in 26 countries.

One of our organisation’s core objectives is fostering cardiovascular research and contributing to representing patients’ interests in this field. EHN participates through patient consultants from its membership in various EU-funded projects, such as BigData@Heart, AIDAVA and Hypermarker, that focus on digitalisation and artificial intelligence in relation to CVD prevention, patient treatment, management and quality of life.
