Amsterdam University Medical Center (AUMC) combines clinical care with research and education. Amsterdam UMC’s two locations serve as a hub for medical excellence, where 19,500 employees ensure patient care is integrated with scientific advancements and the training of future healthcare professionals. Over 800 employees work in the Amsterdam heart centre, making it the largest in the Netherlands.
High-complex data-driven care is provided with a strong focus on high-quality research and valorisation in strong collaboration with other medical specialties embedded in the research institute Amsterdam Cardiovascular Science (ACS). AUMC is a partner of Amsterdam AI, a collaboration between government, academic, medical and other organisations in Amsterdam to help the city develop and deploy responsible technology in AI. Projects will focus on strengthening the AI ecosystem and work on AI solutions in 3 domains: business innovation, citizen support, and health.
Moreover, AUMC closely collaborates with research departments and educational programs including the department of Medical Informatics, Research Data Management, Epidemiology and Data Science. Besides traditional basic and translational research, Amsterdam UMC and specifically the Amsterdam Heart Center also strongly focus on valorisation in collaboration with the knowledge transfer office Innovation Exchange Amsterdam.
Within AI4HF, AUMC provides the expert domain knowledge in cardiovascular disease and is responsible for the design and coordination of the multi-centre, multi-faceted clinical evaluation study, and impact evaluation with technology exploitation. Additionally, AUMC is a member of the federated network and will contribute to the creation of a trustworthy AI prediction model next to provide input on clinical and patient requirements in WP1.
